My dear Ammakutty!

During one of our weekly visits to the Sai Center here in Basel, the regular singers were missing, so I was asked if I could sing and I gladly agreed. But when the moment came, I was all nerves and was literally shaking. Narayan later told me I did ok! I kept thinking why this shakespearean behaviour had occurred and for some reason thought of my parents. I kept thinking of how Amma and Appa never get perturbed or fret, they are generaly at ease with whoever they meet. When asked to sing, Amma just sings, no nerves, no shivering. And then I thought, I have never seen Amma overdo anything before - she is always serene and composed. She never loses her composure or confidence when she meets anyone. She is always the same - smiling and confident. She never says anything out of turn nor does she hurt anyone nor does she snap at anyone - whatever the situation she is in and she has been in many difficult situations. Amma also does not compare with others and she is happy being herself. Her

Yeh Aatha!

Some of the best memories of songs and get-togethers for me are definitley the Nalangus after the wedding. What makes London special to me!

1. The only city that has so many lovely parks in prime acerage : Regents Park, Green park, St.James Park, Hampstead Heath 2. The lovely museums - National Gallery, British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum(V&A), Natural History Museum.. all free to boot 3. Thames and the Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament - what a view 4. Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: the National Trust, a charity has identified and preserved many areas of outstanding beauty 5. The local libraries especially in London, brimming with books of all genres and the reference sections filled with so many newspapers. 6. The newspapers: Guardian, Observer and The Independent - the best journalism and reporting in the world - Fleet Street at its best sans personal judgement and prejudice! 7. The city that is a pedestrian delight - lovely areas to walk by! 8. The small circular tablets on buildings - indicating their hsitorical signifance eg. The one on the wall of St.Mary's Hospiatl, Paddington where penicillin
