Sree Rudraikadasinee Mahayajnam

Blessed devotees,

May Sree Drikpureshwara(Sree Trikkoorappan), Sree Purayankave Bhagavathi, Sree Kamakshee Kailasa Natha Swamy, Sree Dharma Sastha and other devathas and sree Drik-Ganga (Trikkur Puzha) confer all Sreyas on all of us.

By the grace of god, and the blessings of our divine poorvikas, and with the sagacious advice and guidance of our Acharya Brahma Sri VaidhyaNatha Vadhyar, Sri Rudraikadisnee Japa Yajnam is being performed every month. At the conclusion of the eleventh yajna Sree Rudra Homam and Vasordara Homam will be performed. That will make it a Sree Maha Rudra Yajnam. The investment for each monthly Yajna including puja materials, Dakshina for Acharya and Rithviks and Samaradhana works out to Rs. 10,000. This is being sponsored by individuals or groups of devotees. The fifth monthly Yajna was performed on 24th October 2010(in Thulam).

We now crave your kind indulgence to reminisce with you about the greatness and glory of SREERUDRAM(SatRudreeyam) and CHAMAKAM(Vasordara). These two great precious VEDAMANTRAS occupy a central position in the KRISHNA YAJURVEDA THAITHREEYA SAMHITHA. The SAMHITHA has seven KAANDAS or chapters. SreeRudram and Chamakam are enshrined in the fourth KAANDA.

These MANTRAS are visualized for utilization in two important rituals in great and gigantic SOMA YAGAS like ASHWAMEDHAM POUNDAREEKAM, APTHOARYAAMAM and ATHIRAATHRAM. These yajnas are performed very rarely.

Considering the immense spiritual potency of these MANTHRAS, the merciful RISHIS have visualized methods for inclusion of their utilization in the daily religious routine and also shaped rituals such as RUDRAIKAADASINEE, MAHARUDRA and ATHIRUDRAM. In the daily routine these mantras are utilized for japa, namaskara and pooja. In the above mentioned Yajnas they are utilized for japa, pooja, namaskara and Homa. These mantras are extensively used and several thousands of people recite them everyday especially in South India.

Our Scriptures and our RISHIS have proclaimed about the great spiritual potency of these MANTHRAS. These can probably be classified as below :-
1. They provide expiation for even the gravest of sins(PATHAKAS).
2. They ward away sorrows and dangers.
3. They ensure fulfillment of prayers and ABHEESHTAS.
4. JAPA, MEDITATION and SAADHANA utilizing these manthras will lead to the achievement of AATMAJNAANA and AATMA SAAKSHATKARA(MOKSHA)

Commentators on SreeRudram have quoted declarations from
1.KAIVALYOPANISHAD
2.JAABAALOAPANISHAD
3.VAAYUPURANA etc
and RISHIS – YAAJNAVALKYA, SAATAATAPA etc.

Liquidation of Sins
KAIVALYOPANISHAD states “Those who recite SATARUDREEYA(SreeRudram) are purified from grave sins like BRAMHAHATYA, SURAAPAANA, SUVARNASTHEYA etc.”

“YAH SATARUDREEYAM ADHEETHE SAH BRAHMAHATHYAAD POOTHOA BHAVATHI SURAAPANAATH POOTHOABHAVATHI SUVARNA STHEYAATH POOTHOA BHAVATHI, KRUTHYAAKRUTHYAATH POOTHOA BHAVATHI”. According to our scriptures, these are MAHAPATHAKAS.

The word Rudra consists of two letters, RU+DRA. Ru means Sorrow and Sin(which is the cause for all sorrows). DRA means liquidation. RUDRA is one who liquidates sorrow and cause of sorrow namely Sin.

RUD DUKHAM – DUKHA HETHURVAA
THAD DRAVAYATHI NAH PRABUVAH
RUDRA ITHI UCHYATHE THASMAATH
SIVAH PARAMA KAARANAM
FULFILLMENT OF DESIRES
THAITHREEYA UPANISHAD States :-

“Worship the Supreme with Prostrations Your Desires will bow before you”

“THAM NAMAH ITHI UPASEETHA
NAMAYANTHE ASMAI KAAMAAH”

Sree Rudram promotes the fulfillment of this commandment of VEDA. There are more than 300 Namaskara Manthrams in SREE RUDRAM. Chamakam enshrines various noble ABHEESHTAS for fulfillment by the prayers in SREERUDRA. So that we may not pray for trifles. It is called VASORDHARA in VEDIC Parlance. VASORDHARA means and incessant flow of wealth. SreeRudram prays for happiness without sorrow. DUKHA HEENA SUKHAM.

Attainment of BRAHMAJNAANAM and BRAHMA SAAKSHAATKARAM.

KAIVALYOPANISHAD proclaims :-
By the recitation of SREERUDRAM one attains JNANAM that helps him to cross the OCEAN OF SAMSARA.

ANENA JNAANAM AAPNOATHI SAMSAARA
ARNAVA THAARAKAM

He attains immortality KAIVALYAM ASNUTHE

JAABALOAPANISHAD also declares the same.
“ETHAANI AMRUTHASYA NAAMADHEYAANI ETHAIRHAVAAMRUTHO BHAVATHI”

The ultimate prayer for every one is attainment of BRAHMASAAKSHATKAARA and MOKSHA.

The MANTRAAS enshrined in SREERUDRAM vividly portray the omniscience (Sarvajnathvam), Omnipotence(Sarveshwarathvam), Omnipresence(sarvantharyamitvam), and universal overlordship(Sarvadhishtidatvam) of the deity to whom these prayers are addressed. Therefore SREERUDRAM is KAAMADHENU, KALPAKAVRIKSHAM and CHINTHAMANI all put together as far as fulfillment of ABHEESHTAS are concerned and also a highly potent MOAKSHA SAADHAKAM.

We have launched this divine project with the support and good will of our well wishers aspiring to provide opportunities to devotees to participate actively in the preparations, performance and auspicious fulfillment of such a great and glorious YAJNA PARAMPARA.

We pray for the active association and assistance including possible monetary contribution from all the devotees. Some individuals and groups of devotees have already sponsored one financial outlay for monthly YAJNAS.

Yours in the Service of VEDA and GOD,

MANAGING COMMITEE
